Why it works so well:
❖ Rapid, targeted cooling constricts blood vessels and muscles, slowing blood flow and forcing the immune and hormonal systems to respond. This response is referred to as cryostimulation
❖ The cold temperature initially constricts the blood vessels: vasoconstriction, followed by vasodilation: the 4 x increase
in blood vessel diameter – stimulating a massive increase in tissue perfusion. At the same time, there is a release of dopamine, norepinephrine and growth factors
